STAFF and pupils at the Busy Bees pre-school in Ledbury are in the mood to celebrate, following an Ofsted report which ranked the pre-school as "outstanding".

The inspection took place at the end of April, and the report has just been published online.

The previous inspection, in July 2012, rated the pre-school as "good", and the latest result is even an improvement on those high standards.

The inspector found that: "The management team is passionate about its work with children. The quality of teaching is exceptional.

"Children thrive in the pre-school".

So exceptional is the report, by way of a recommendation, the inspector only advised Busy Bees to "maintain the impact of the staff's professional development on the quality of teaching, to maintain the exceptional level of practice".

Busy Bees manager, Emma Davis said: "The inspection took place under the new, more rigorous inspection framework which was introduced in September 2015. The Inspector was with us for a full day where she observed teaching and learning, examined data, reviewed policies and procedures and ensured all welfare requirements were met. She spoke to staff, ensuring that they were able to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns.

"We are all absolutely delighted to be recognised as an outstanding childcare provision by Ofsted. In particular, we are thrilled to be described as 'an exceptional preschool' where 'the quality of teaching is exceptional'."

"The recognition that 'all children, including those in receipt of funding, make remarkable progress in relation to their starting points' is pleasing as our dedicated team do their utmost to promote children's learning and development."

Miss Davis herself will lead the pre-school as an early years teacher from September, as she qualifies this term following her studies at the University of Worcester.

Miss Davis added: "All other staff will be fully qualified, further enhancing our ability to provide the highest standards of teaching and learning, recognised as being 'highly effective'."
