A FAMILY is hoping all's well that ends well when it opens the spectacular gardens of their Herefordshire home to raise funds for a county hospice.

Organised as part of St Michael's Hospice Open Gardens season, visitors will be able to enjoy 20 acres of garden at Newport House in Almeley - and watch a performance of Shakespeare's A Winter's Tale, performed by the Willow Globe Company.

The home is thought to have been the home of the English Lollard martyr Sir John Oldcastle, who it is believed was the model for Shakespeare’s character Falstaff.

Jenny Watt, who owns Newport House, said: "My father went for treatment at St Michael's, and when I visited the Hospice I was moved by the serenity and empathy of the staff.

"I have always wanted to find out more about Shakespeare and with this year being the 400th anniversary of his death, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to bring a production of a play originally set in Sicily to Herefordshire."

Tickets for the performance, at 3pm this Sunday (26th), cost £10 and are limited. They must be booked in advance by contacting the Hospice's community fundraising team on 01432 851000, or by emailing events@st-michaels-hospice.org.uk

No seating is provided so those attending should bring their own chairs or a rug. Cream teas and Pimms will be available to buy.

Proceeds from the event will be split between the hospice and the Willow Globe Company.
