JESSE Norman has said David Cameron must stay on despite the fact the UK has voted to leave the EU.
He called the victory a 'seismic moment in our history', but he called for stability.
The MP for Hereforshire South took a neutral stance throughout the campaign - declining to say which side he was backing.
Last night's vote saw Herefordshire and Worcestershire comprehensively vote to leave the EU, along with every region in England bar London.
Wales also voted overwhelmingly for the Leave campaign, while Scotland and Northern Ireland voted to stay.
Speaking this morning Mr Norman said: "I think the Prime Minister must stay on and it's very important that at the moment, when there is concern among financial markets that we have government continuing in an orderly and effective way."
The Herefordshire vote in full: Votes cast: 108,336 Remain: 44,148 Leave: 64,122
