A HEREFORDSHIRE firm has received an industry award at the world's largest exhibition for solar energy.

Representatives from Fownhope-based Caplor Energy recently travelled to Munich to accept the award at the Intersolar exhibition.

A total of 1,077 companies presented solutions and innovations that are helping to drive the installation of renewable energy systems throughout the UK.

Increased interest in energy storage systems, as well as other new technologies, is helping people to manage their energy more smartly than ever before.

To stay abreast of the latest industry developments Caplor Energy works closely with other suppliers.

This was recognised during the event with an award from Vikram Solar, a highly accredited global solar panel manufacturer.

Mel Preedy, business manager of Caplor Energy, said: "We have worked closely with Vikram Solar over the last couple of years and this award demonstrates the great work that we have been achieving together.

"So far we have installed 2.5MW or approximately 10,000 Vikram Solar panels, many of which are in Herefordshire.

"We hope that this successful relationship grows further as the solar market continues to expand in the UK.”

And the firm has also commented on the future of the industry following the result of last week's EU referendum.

Gareth Williams, managing director of Caplor Energy, said: "There is little evidence to suggest that electricity prices will fall in the long-term and decarbonising our energy supply while the current situation is resolved is too important to be put on hold.

"With other investment alternatives now becoming far more risky, solar energy demonstrates a very strong proposition with the market continuing to grow."
