A TEAM of four friends will be heading to the South Down on Friday, July 22, to compete in a tough 100km challenge.
Nicky Childs and Michelle Leversidge from Ledbury and Gilly Maxim and Jane Tasney from Malvern, who have dubbed themselves the Unbreakable Awesome Foursome, will be setting out at 6am on Saturday on the Trailwalker, 62 miles of undulating hills which equates to two marathons and scaling Ben Nevis and Snowdon combined. The challenge starts at Petersfield, passing over the South Downs and finishing at Brighton Racecourse.
The four hope to compete the challenge in under thirty hours, meaning they will have to trek through the night.
They are taking part in the challenge to raise money for Oxfam and the Ghurkha Welfare Trust
The ladies, who met through a local fitness group run by Simon Gwilliam, have been training through snow, sleet, hail, rain and a little sun over the past five months in preparation for this challenge, and will be celebrating Michelle’s 50th birthday on the day of the walk.
They have already raised over £2,500 and can be sponsored at justgiving.com/teams/the-unbreakable-awesome-foursome.
