A PSYCHIATRIC report has been ordered on a 46-year-old Hereford man after he admitted wounding his mother's lodger.
Carl Bennett, of Wordsworth Road, Whitecross, changed his plea at Worcester Crown Court to guilty of wounding 60-year-old Patrick Mayglothing with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He had previously denied the charge.
Charles Hamer, defending, said there were a number of issues relating to Bennett's offending that could be investigated in a psychiatric assessment.
Bernard O'Brien, prosecuting, said Mr Mayglothing still suffered from post traumatic stress disorder following the attack on February 8 this year at a house in Westfaling Street, Hereford. He is believed to have been slashed across the neck with an Eskimo blade.
Judge Nicolas Cartwright said photographs showed a "gaping" wound and Mr Mayglothing had grown a beard to conceal it.
He ordered psychiatric and pre-sentence reports and Bennett was further remanded in custody until September 5..
