TWO women who met in hospital two years ago while undergoing treatment for breast cancer were reunited for the first time when they volunteered as fundraisers at a Hereford supermarket.

Jan Poole, 49, and Julie Brandam Jones, 57, dressed in pink and were armed with collection buckets at Asda in Hereford to raise money for Tickled Pink through games including ‘guess the teddy bear’s name’ and ‘how many sweets in the jar’.

The store has helped to raise thousands of pounds for breast cancer charities through the campaign in recent years.

Ms Brandam Jones said: “When I was going through treatment Breast Cancer Care were a fantastic support – Breast Cancer Care are a fantastic charity.

“I’ve got two daughters who are 24 and 21 and Breast Cancer Now fund all this amazing research – the work they’re doing now will help my daughters and the second generation.

"Breast Cancer Now say that by the year 2050 no woman will die of breast cancer. Wouldn’t that be really amazing?”

A total of £376.65 was raised on the day and customers can help support this year’s efforts either by making a donation online, or in store – or by purchasing Tickled Pink products available throughout October.
