DIVERSIONS were in place this week after one of the main roads into Wellington Heath was closed, because of work to water mains.

New water mains were installed along Beggar's Ash, which is the first turn for Wellington Heath from Ledbury, when heading in the Bromyard direction.

Is is also the main route to and from Wellington Heath, usually used by buses.

The chairman of Wellington Heath parish council, Cllr Jennifer Jones, speaking on Tuesday, expressed the hope that the work by Welsh Water would be over by the end of the week, as planned.

The work started on Monday, October 24 and was set to be completed, ideally, by Wednesday, October 26.

Cllr Jones said that local people appeared to the coping by used other routes to and from the village, including Hollow Lane, Burton's Lane and back lanes off the Worcester Road, such as the route through the Petty France area.

Cllr Jones said: "It does all mean the buses are running a bit late, with diversions down Hollow Lane, and whichever way people go, they have to go down little lanes."
