LEDBURY's two newest town councillors have expressed their hopes for the future, in how they wish to serve the community.

Harry Wilce, who was elected to the Ledbury North Ward last week, aged 22, said: "I wish to inspire more young adults to run for council, if any positions become open in the future, as well as getting involved with their local council."

A former John Masefield High School student, Mr Wilce stood as an Independent Local Resident.

He said: "I am very interested in improving the relationship between Ledbury Town Council and the general public, to achieve a more pro-active council."

Nina Shields (Independent) was unchallenged for the Ledbury South vacancy.

She said: "Joining Ledbury Town Council is something I’ve thought about for some while. I’ve lived here and watched the town grow for over 20 years.

"A professional career, in employee relations across various business sectors, developed my skills in team building, mediation, mentoring, consensus building, negotiating and strategic planning – skills I would now like to use for the benefit of our town.

"These are challenging times at every level but there is always more that unites us than divides us and this is our strength. I see evidence of this in the voluntary work I do in the community, particularly working with the Red Cross and also acting as a Vice Chairman of the governors at Eastnor Primary School."

She added: "Many know me as Chairman of the Ledbury Library Development Group, campaigning to defend our library."
