BROMYARD once again found themselves victims of the weather as their game at Pershore was abandoned after they had reached 129-0 off 34 overs.

After a quick start, Bromyard's openers were tied down by veteran seamer Martin Johnson.

However, Ash Bullock and Ollie Bailey took the patient approach, and with Bullock playing the anchor role and Bailey playing some typically powerful chips over the infield, they progressed to yet another 100 opening partnership, their sixth 100 opening stand in the last season and a half.

Bullock was 55no off 114 balls with four fours and Bailey 65no off 90 balls with six 4s and a 6, when the rain which had been circling the ground for two hours finally came down.

The torrential downpour flooded the far side of the square, and after a wait, the game was abandoned.

Bromyard now lie fifth in the WCL Division One but still only 12 points behind first placed Redditch, who they play at home tomorrow (Saturday).

The Seconds were abandoned without a ball bowled, due to a sodden Flaggoners Green.

The Thirds however took home a 50-run victory from their trip to Bartestree and Lugwardine, their fifth win in succession, leaving them challenging for the top spot in Marches League Division Five.

Batting first, they were indebted to Paul Tomkins, who smashed 14 4s and eight 6s in making 131. Only James Bagley (13), Jordan Tomkins (10) and skipper Dave Clegg (18no) of the other batsmen made double figures, as Bromyard closed their 45 overs on 222-8.

Greg Jones (2-31), Nick Phipps (2-43) and Alex Duggan (2-49) were the pick of the home side's bowlers.

Bartestree and Lugwardine made 172 all out in reply, Richard Fisher made 78 and Bromyard's wickets were shared around between Clegg (three), Tomkins (two), Bagley (two) and Steve Trafford (two).
