POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a report of a suspicious incident involving a child in Newent .

At around 4.15pm on Monday, February 13, a 12-year-old girl was cycling on Aston Ingham Road, Kilcot, when a white Ford car with three people inside, a man and woman in the front and another man in the back, pulled up alongside her.

The male driver opened the door and said to the girl to get in the car. A young man got out of the back of the car and tried to grab her, however he did not touch her and the girl quickly cycled home.

The driver of the car is described as around 45 years old, of muscular build and balding. The younger man, possibly a teenager, was wearing a grey zip up hoody with the hood up. The woman in the front passenger seat had long hair.

Police would like to hear from anyone in the area at the time who saw a white Ford and its occupants or who has any information that can help police with their enquires. Please call 101 quoting incident number 349 of February 13.
