A HOUSE on a busy road junction in Malvern Link has been hit by turning buses three times in eight months.

The impacts, with the buses' wing mirrors hitting the building, have caused cracks to appear in the wall at 50A Upper Howsell Road as well as damaging the end of a roof section.

The resident, Stuart Fletcher, said repairing the damage is going to cost at least £1,000 and called on First, the bus operator, to take steps to make sure it will not happen again.

Mr Fletcher, who is a postman in Malvern, said: "The house is right opposite the junction with Yates Hay Road, and each time it has been a bus coming out of Yates Hay Road and turning into Upper Howsell Road.

"They swing out, and the big wing mirrors they have hit the house because we're right on the pavement.

"Each time I've reported it to First, and they must be able to do something about it. Surely the drivers are trained so they don't do this sort of thing."

"It's going to cost at least £1,000 to put it right and it's a lot of money."

He said the most recent collision happened on Wednesday last week.

He said: "It left a part of the bus's wing mirror cover lying in the pavement outside. What happens if someone was walking along there?"

The house had previously been occupied by Mr Fletcher's stepfather Chris Chadwick, who said: "I lived there for 30 years and nothing like this happened, then it gets hit three times in 18 months."

He said that the house used to be a launderette before being converted into its present use.

The route taking in Yates Hay Road and Upper Howsell Road are used by First's 44 services, one of the town's main buses, which link various parts of Malvern and Worcester.

Sarah East, general manager for First Worcester said: “We are aware of the alleged incidents and our insurance team are in communication with the residents of the property.”
