THE new executive head teacher of a federation of county schools has been announced.

Governors of the Aylestone Business and Enterprise College (ABEC),Broadlands Primary School and Withington Primary School Federation have announced Simon Robertson will step into the role permanently, having temporarily filled the post following the retirement of Sue Woodrow in August 2015.

Mr Robertson has a real connection to ABEC as he originally moved toHereford from his home town of Cardiff almost 20 years ago to take on a post as a newly qualified teacher at the school. Having since happily spent his entire career at ABEC and more recently the wider federation, he says he is 'hugely proud' to have been permanently appointed to the post of executive head teacher.

Mr Robertson said: "I am passionate about the three schools in our federation and feel extremely proud to be the new permanent head teacher. I look forward to working very closely with the governors, teachers, parents and children to build upon the successes the schools have already achieved and taking each school forward in the next phase of their history and development.

"We have fantastic children across our federation’s schools, who are polite, well-mannered and found with smiles on their faces. I believe strongly that all children should enjoy learning, be actively engaged and know what experiencing success looks and feels like. My expectations of the pupils in terms of their achievement and behaviour are very high and I expect all members of the school community to uphold the schools’ values.

"I will strive to maintain and build upon the unique strengths of each school in our Federation and, as a parent myself, I have always really valued the opinions and concerns of our parents. My aim is to work with everyone to ensure our schools continue to provide excellent teaching and learning experiences in a happy and caring environment."

Away from work, Mr Robertson is married with two children of his own – aged 14 and 11 – and can regularly be seen stood at the side of a sports field supporting his son or daughter.

He also enjoys walking and cooking and is happy doing anything that involves spending time with his family.

Speaking about Mr Robertson’s appointment, Rachel Rice, chair of governors for the federation, said: "We have no doubt he is the right person for this job and we are all looking forward to supporting him as he takes our three schools forward."
