THE Bromyard Downs Project is coming to an end after three years.
The project was set up after The Bromyard Downs Common Association (BDCA) and the Herefordshire Wildlife Trust won £165,550 of lottery grant money.
The project organisers monitored the condition of habitats and the wildlife and recruited and trained volunteers to preserve the 114-hectare site.
Thanks to the project, the BDCA is equipped to effectively manage the common for years to come, along with a group of volunteers.
Project manager, Hannah Welsh, said: "One important legacy of the project is the connections that have been made between local people, between organisations and between people and the land.
"These connections, the ten year management plan and a spirit of working together will be what ensures the Downs is looked after for years to come."
There will be a celebration of the project at The Conquest Theatre on Saturday, May 6 from 7 to 9pm, with the Common People performance from Conquest Theatre Youth group, films from young film makes, drinks and canapes inspired by foraged finds on the Downs.
All welcome. To attend email Hannah Welsh on h.welsh@herefordshirewt.co.uk or call 01432 356872.
