A FORMER councillor campaigning to keep the walk-in centre in Hereford open has urged people take part in the consultation.

The Herefordshire Clinical Commissioning Group is currently consulting on proposals to close the walk-in centre at Asda in Hereford and instead open a GP surgery at the site.

The CCG also wants to move the out of hours Taurus hub, currently in St Owen Street, to the Asda site which would provide evening and weekend appointments for all county residents registered with a GP.

But Glenda Powell is against the plans and has already handed in a petition of 6,565 signatures to keep the walk-in centre open.

Ms Powell urged people to take part in the consultation and make their views heard.

She added: "That is the only way we are going to keep it."

The CCG want to make the changes because they say first and foremost people want to see their GP, as they hold their notes and understand the patient.
