HUNDREDS of children took part in a traditional parade to mark St George's Day on Sunday.

The event was organised by the South Marches Scouts, with Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides from across the district taking part.

Members of the public turned out to support the parade as well as dignitaries including Lady Darnley and the Mayor of Hereford Councillor Jim Kenyon.

They walked through Hereford to the Cathedral for a service and back to Castle Green.

A spokesman for the organisation said: "The youngsters love parading through town in their uniform."

Meanwhile, Morris dancers filled the streets of Ledbury with colourful performances to mark the occasion.

The Silurian Border Morris Men, from Ledbury, hosted the event – referred to as a 'Black Meet' – and teams from around the county attended.
