A NORTH Herefordshire soft fruit grower has demonstrated how it is a 'good neighbour' by installing a life-saving defibrillator.
The device at Brook Farm, Marden, will not only be available to S&A employees but also for the local community to use at any time in an emergency.
The business, which has also installed defibrillators at its Brierley and Kent sites, said the unit will be housed in a cabinet controlled with a digital lock and will be positioned on the external wall of the reception building and accessible from the main car park.
This particular type of defibrillator is designed specifically for use by people who have had little or no training in the operation of such equipment.
Jude Norcott, Public Relations Manager at S&A Produce (UK) Ltd, said: "There was the option to have it available to the local community as well and we always like to do something to help our neighbours where we can."
Anyone in the community dialling 999 will be directed to the defibrillator by the ambulance service who will also talk the caller through what is required.
