A NEW church could be built in a market town which would have community space for all residents to use.

Christ Church (Methodist and United Reformed Church) in Edde Cross Street want to create a new community space in Ross-on-Wye, open to all, and with a sanctuary for worship to replace their current 1960s building.

But firstly people from the church want to hear from residents about what they believe is needed in Ross, and which services are important to people.

Reverend Deborah Cornish said: "We are excited to be starting this consultation process and look forward to hearing from all members of the Ross-on-Wye community. Together, with confidence, we can look to build a more caring community and a better world."

They want to build not just a new church, but a place of safety, sanctuary and support for all people, particularly at vulnerable stages in life.

The vision for a new space is one that is open and inclusive to all, where everyone would be welcomed, heard and valued and which provides a programme of services for community groups, which is why they want to know what type of activities are most needed.

This might be support for the elderly, the unemployed, or crèches or youth clubs.

To take part in the survey go to www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/ChristchurchROW and copies are available from outside the church foyer or from the town council office, Larruperz Centre and from the doctors’ surgeries.

There will also be an open community ‘bring and share’ supper on June 22 at 6.30pm at Christ Church in Edde Cross Street where people can come along and find out more and get involved. Bring a favourite dish of food to share if you can.
