THE winners of a writing competition run as part of Leominster Festival were presented with certificates by a county author.
Anne O’Brien, an international writer of historical novels, was on hand to congratulate those who had been tasked with creating poetry and prose on the theme 'Paint the town - in words'.
Shortlisted entries were read to a packed out Grange Court by Alison Ellis and judges Fay Wentworth and Gill Fothergill.
Cheques provided by Helen Bowden of Orphan’s Press were presented to Marlene Millar and Laura Pullen, literacy coordinator at Leominster Primary School, which the winning young writers attend.
The winners of the under-10 poem were Gracie-Mai Davies with A View from the School and Lewis Kemeys with In My Painting.
Gabrielle Price won the under-10 prose competition with her piece The Priory Church while Jared Lloyd was the under-11 poem winner with his Paint Leominster piece.
The senior prose or poem category was won by Marlene Millar who wrote A Whole New World.
