A REVELLER who assaulted three police officers when she was drunk has been given a community order.

Antoniette Barratt, of Pine Grove in Hinton, Hereford, pleaded guilty to one charge of being drunk and disorderly and three charges of assaulting a constable in his/ her duty.

The 35-year-old also admitted breaching a conditional discharge which was given to her last November for a charge of driving with excess alcohol.

Owen Beale, prosecuting at Herefordshire Magistrates Court, said at midnight on May 28 police officers were drawn to a man and woman who were arguing in Commercial Street in Hereford.

The officers separated them and Barratt continued to shout and swear. She tried to get back in The Kerry to get her coat, but was not allowed, so officers asked doormen to bring her coat out.

Barratt continued to swear and was arrested for being drunk and disorderly. She then wrapped her arms around a litter bin, and officers had to prise her away.

When the van arrived to take her to the police station, she tripped up police inspector Damian Sowrey who fell and hurt his elbow.

Once at the police station she kicked PC Ben Daffrun in the knee and then she tried to bite Sergeant Melanie Reynolds on the hand, but she was wearing gloves.

Marilena Divitantonio, in mitigation, said Barratt has issues with regards to the police, relating to personal issues in her past and she does not like being touched.

Natalie Johnson-Stanley, probation, said Barratt, who has four children, had received bad news on the day of the incident. She said she lives in social housing and is in rent arrears and is £3,500 in debt. She said: "Alcohol is a big issue."

Barratt was also suffering with depression and borderline personality disorder.

Magistrates gave her a 12 month community order, including nine months of an alcohol treatment requirement. She was also told to complete 15 rehabilitation activity requirement days. She was fined £25 for being drunk and disorderly and ordered to pay a £85 victim surcharge and £50 costs. The conditional discharge will continue to run.
