HEREFORD Indie Food is back this August bank holiday for its second year with a line-up including DJ sets from Foals and Mystery Jets.

The festival was launched last year in the car park behind Burger Shop and The Bookshop in Aubrey Street in Hereford, led by Dorian Kirk, Jon Stead and Edwin Kirk from The Rule of Tum.

They have now built on that success and added an extra day to the festival, included more live music and made room for more food and drink stalls.

Hereford Indie Food is also working in collaboration with Hay Festival to host six talks by chefs over the three days- with names to be announced.

Dorian Kirk said: "All of the talks are going to be based on something I am really passionate about- the circle of nutritional food from the field through to agriculture to chefs preparing the food."

The talks will be held at 10am and 11am in The Bookshop before the festival gates open at midday. A day ticket will then cost £3 and last until 5.30pm.

There will be acoustic music throughout the day and more food and drink stalls than last year (including The Beefy Boys, Rayeesa's Indian Kitchen and Rocket Pizza) as the Makers Market (crafts) has been moved above Roman Glass in Berrington Street.

The Bookshop and Burger Shop will be connected to the festival site this year, with The Bookshop celebrating the produce of their meat supplier, Farmer Tom, with flatbread kebabs, and cocktails.

Then from 6pm on Saturday and Sunday there will be live music and DJ sets. Dorian said: "We are really happy with the line-up. When we had Gus from Alt-J last year we knew he would be hard to beat."

But with perseverance they have secured DJ sets from Mat Horne and Mystery Jets on the Saturday night and a DJ set from Foals on the Sunday.

Dorian said: "I think it was so good last year, it is a bit bigger as we have used a bit more space around the site. But we thought let's keep it the same intimate, wicked vibe."

Hereford Beer House and the Shack Revolution have been working with Rule of Tum to put on the festival, which aims to celebrate Herefordshire's independent food and drink culture.

Hereford Indie Food takes place on August 26, 27 and 28. Tickets for Saturday night are £10 and Sunday night are £12 (plus booking fee). Go to www.herefordindiefood.com for more information.
