RETIRED electrician Michael Handley will be sparking plenty of interest among birdwatchers with a series of remarkable pictures captured in his garden.

While most are happy enough to hear the increasingly rare sounds of the cuckoo in spring and early summer, Michael, a wildlife enthusiast and keen photographer was delighted to spot a tiny hen sparrow busily at work feeding a comparatively huge young cuckoo.

Birds in general flock to the bird table at his home in Almeley, including a whole family of greater spotted woodpeckers, but the scene played out in Michael’s garden was definitely a prize one for his photographic collection.
