HELP is needed to make one of the biggest annual dates on the foodie calendar as big a sizzling success as ever.

The three day Ledbury Big Breakfast event will run this year from January 26 to January 28, to promote local outlets and local produce, and to celebrate the best meal of the day.

But to draw in extra large crowds, the organisers, The Ledbury Food Group team, are appealing for volunteers to hand out promotional leaflets in the High Street, on the weekend before the big event.

Co-ordinator, David McCauley said: "We need several volunteers to hand out leaflets on the High Street, on the Friday and Saturday before, on January 19 and January 20, promoting the event and giving details of venues.

"Time slots are from 9.30am to 10.45 am and from 10.45 till noon on both days. The event is popular and most people are pleased to get the details."

He added: "This will be the fifth Ledbury Big Breakfast. This year, there will be 20 establishments, cafes, restaurants, pubs, hotels, opening to serve fabulous breakfasts from 7.30am till mid afternoon, each day.

"This event, organised by the Ledbury Food Group, aims to promote locally produced food and drink to the public. Last year, nearly 1,500 breakfasts were served."

Each venue is asked to put on their own breakfast specialities, as well as their normal fare.

Full details of the event are now on line at: http://www.ledburyfoodgroup.org/events/event/ledbury-big-breakfast/

Mr McCauley said: "Many venues get fully booked so people will want to book early."
