BROMYARD garage owner Richard Mason will probably want to forget last Sunday's Hagley & District Light Car Club-organised speed hill-climb event at Loton Park near Shrewsbury.

Driving his lovely Austin-Healey 3000 in his usual spirited manner, he spun the car on the fastest part of the track approaching Fallow Bend, passing a marshal's post sideways before coming to a halt safely and without hitting anything.

Then, on his second run later in the afternoon, at exactly the same point, his differential broke as he braked hard and changed down a gear for the corner, leaving a trail of oil on the track for the same marshals to clear up.
