POLICE in Ross-on-Wye said they are prioritising high visibility patrols in areas where antisocial behaviour is taking place.

At Ross Town Council last night, new Police Community Support Officer for Ross Simon Hall addressed the issue of antisocial behaviour at The Thomas Blake Memorial Gardens and Ross Sports Club, and street drinkers around town.

He said: "We are prioritising high-visibility patrols to all of those areas."

Councillor Hannah Lerego said there is a regular problem at the sports club with drivers causing antisocial behaviour in their cars.

She asked if the police could have more of a visible presence down there.

Mr Hall said they are already doing regular patrols down there and asked whether the gates to the centre could be shut to deter drivers.

But Coun Lerego said they don't want to shut it off to everyone and she feels parents have to do the police's work by going down there and speaking to the drivers.

But Mr Hall said: "There is a limit to how much we can go down there."

He said it would help if eye witnesses took registration numbers and reported them to the police.
