EVESHAM Town Council will host Celebrate Evesham in the Market Place this spring to mark three years since the launch of the town plan.

Introduced in 2015, the Evesham Town Plan aimed to improve the lives of some 23,000 residents living in and around Evesham.

Since this time a Town Plan Committee was set up, and has been trying to protect the town’s heritage, increasing the range of retail and food outlets in the centre and improving the local environment.

Set to take place on Saturday April 14, the Celebrate Evesham event will highlight the successes of the town plan to date, where members of the Town Plan Committee will be able to meet the community and discuss plans.

The event will also provide the opportunity for Evesham's independent businesses to showcase their offering, together with stalls, crafts and activities for children, promising an enjoyable day out for all members of the family.

Cllr Richard Jones, Evesham Town mayor said: "Since the town plan was launched in 2015, the Town Plan Committee has worked extremely hard to act with the local community through a range of different and exciting projects, such as the creation of a greener and more sustainable town, supporting the Evesham Abbey project, working with Wychavon District Council on ‘Enlighten’, a project to create a trail of floodlit historic buildings in the town, and the development of a network of cycle and footpaths in and around the town.

"We are, therefore, extremely excited about the Celebrate Evesham event and feel this will provide us with an excellent opportunity to showcase what has been achieved over the past three years, whilst enabling our local community to really celebrate and feel proud to be part of our town."

In the build-up to the event, project leaders will increase awareness of their achievements to date, current proposals and future plans, whilst encouraging members of the local community to become more involved in the different projects by becoming Town Plan Ambassadors.

Cllr Jones added: "The Town Plan belongs to the people of Evesham and depends largely on residential support.

"Therefore, the council welcomes residents to show interest in the key initiatives, and to put themselves forwards as Town Plan Ambassadors during our Spring celebration."
