AN anti-Brexit battle bus, touring the country, has been in Worcester.

But it wasn’t the perfect visit to the city, as the bus got stuck attempting to turn and park in Cathedral Square.

Pro-European supporters have crowdfunded the bus with grassroute groups, including Worcestershire for Europe, supporting its whistle-stop tour.

The Boris Bus, which promised £350million for the NHS if the UK voted Leave, did the rounds in the run up to the 2015 referendum. This bus is the same red colour but with a very different message on its side, stating: “Brexit to cost £2,000million a week... says the government’s own report” and poses the question “Is is worth it.”

On arrival the bus was forced into a reversal of its own as it attempted to turn right to the parking bay at the Cathedral Square only to get stuck. But when it did arrival supporters, including a Boris Johnson impersonator, enthusiastically posed for pictures and chatted to supporters.

Charles Seaford, one of the organisers of the 14 day national tour, said: “We have been getting a lot of attention. We are not campaigning specifically for another referendum. We are providing the facts, and people can make their own judgement.”

Jed Marson, from the Worcestershire group, said: “We are engaging with people, with the facts.

“The fact is employment is going up again and companies are not going to be able to afford to trade, they are not going to be able to afford goods. It is not on.”

Former Worcester MP Mike Foster, who has been a vocal supporter of remain, was also at the event.

“It’s important the voices of the 48 per cent who didn’t support Brexit are heard,” he said.

“There is an increasing number of people who recognise that, actually, it is not quite as easy as they were led to believe.

“Is it worth it? - is a good question to ask.

“If it was decided to give people a say, which would be the first referendum on an actual deal now we know what the terms are, if it came to that I would welcome that referendum.”
