A KIND special needs teacher from a Kidderminster school had undergone a dramatic hair cut to support youngsters with cancer.

Lyndsey Kirby, who works at Wyre Forest School, was inspired to carry out the selfless act after seeing one of her pupils have her hair cut, in support of a younger sibling, for the Little Princess Trust.

Her initial goal was to raise £200 but she has since collected an impressive £1,200 which will enable the charity to make two wigs for children who have suffered hair loss.

She had seven inches of her hair cut off in a school assembly, which will also be sent off to the charity to help them make a wig for a child, and is still collecting donations.

Lyndsey said: “I decided to cut my hair after being inspired by a child I work with, who shaved their hair. I thought this was such a brave decision to make for someone so young.

“My initial goal was to raise £200 for the charity but I reached this within the first week of fundraising.

“I have been amazed at all the donations I have received and I am so proud to have raised £1,200 has so far.

“I have had an incredible amount of support from my family, friends and everyone at the school where I work. Without all their donations and support, I would have never reached this amount.”
