LEDBURY Rotary Club is once again set to open its Community Chest, with a view to benefitting local organisations and groups.

The last Community Chest presentation at The Feathers Hotel, last October, involved a number of invited guests representing local schools, sports clubs and community groups.

Ledbury Rotarians, joined by the mayor of Ledbury, Cllr Debbie Baker, heard a series of short talks on how the Ledbury Rotary Club grants had made a difference to the various community groups.

A Rotary spokesman added: "The event was another example of Rotary working with the community. We also took the opportunity to presenting a grant cheque to the local Evergreens group, for senior citizens.

"Now, following the success of the last two years of the Rotary Community Chest, Ledbury Rotary Club is getting ready to ask for applications for 2018. Applications will be welcome from Ledbury groups, societies and other organisations, not individuals, especially those working with the young and the old."

The application forms will be available in mid-March and the closing date is April 30.

The spokesman said: "Don’t be shy – please apply. Hundreds of people have benefited from the Rotary community chest to funds to assist them with their activities."

In past years, Ledbury Rotary Club has helped local groups and organisations including the John Masefield School, The Scouts, Eastnor School, Friends of Ledbury children's centre, the Evergreen club, Dymock Cricket club, Ledbury Swifts and many others.

A typical grant is in the region of £500.
