Black cab drivers in London will be extending their knowledge to cover first aid training as e-hailing app mytaxi rolls out its Knowledge+ programme.

The training course, the first of its kind in the world, will see 17,500 London black cab drivers given bespoke emergency training, backed by St John Ambulance.

Skills learnt will include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), basic first aid and the handling of acid attacks and emergency childbirth situations, all aimed at ensuring safer journeys for passengers.
