A TRUCK and a car have been involved in a road traffic collision on the A417 road bridge, over the M50 motorway.

The incident happened at 9.34am this morning, Tuesday April 10, on the Ledbury to Gloucester road.

The bridge where the accident happened is a flyover above the M50, close to junction 2 of the M50, and about four miles to the south of Ledbury.

The car driver, who was in a red Peugeot, complained of neck pains and is believed to have also suffered stomach injuries. He was taken by ambulance to the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

Police say he is a Gloucester man. His name, and details of his condition, have not been released

The driver of the truck, a white Isuzu, did not need hospital treatment.

Gloucestershire police, who are handling the investigation, say the truck driver is a Malvern man.

One carriageway of the A417 had to be closed, following the accident.

Police say the clean-up operation, including vehicle recovery and the removal of an oil spill, started at 10.50am this morning.
