A CREATIVE pupil at Shipston-on-Stour Primary School has been awarded first prize in a design competition launched by housebuilder, CALA Homes.

Key stage two pupils were tasked with designing a ‘welcome to your new home’ card for purchasers at CALA Homes’ Foxgloves development in Shipston-on-Stour.

The designs were submitted to an independent judging panel, who selected nine year old Evie Oram as the winner.

In addition to seeing her winning design bought to life, Evie also received a £50 Waterstones gift voucher while the two runners up, 10 year-old Ella Kirkman and 8 year-old Phoebe Leonard, each received a £30 gift card for their designs.

Certificates were also sent to all participating pupils to congratulate them for their hard work and creativity.

Gill Sabin, sales and marketing director for CALA Homes (Midlands), said: “At CALA Homes, we are committed to creating a positive legacy in the communities in which we build, and supporting local schools such as Shipston-on-Stour Primary School is just one way we try to achieve this.

"We thoroughly enjoyed working with the school for this project and we were incredibly impressed with the all the designs.

“We were spoilt for choice when choosing a winner but Evie’s design was bright, colourful and instantly put a smile on our faces so we knew it would be a huge hit with residents at Foxgloves.”

Christian Hilton, headteacher at Shipston Primary School, said: “We were delighted to take part in the competition and are incredibly proud of all the children who have had a fantastic time creating their designs.

"We’d like to thank CALA Homes for the children’s prizes and certificates and are all very excited to see Evie’s design bought to life at Foxgloves.”
