MARK Taylor bagged a hat-trick as Ledbury Town Reserves returned to action with a 6-0 thrashing of Woofferton at New Street.

Sam Branch, Arnie Fleck and Alistair Holder also netted as Ledbury secured only their fourth Herefordshire FA County League Division One win of the season.

Third-from-bottom Ledbury had last played three weeks ago but held off a strong start from the third-placed visitors to take a fifth-minute lead.

A superb 25-yard effort from Taylor out of the blue put them ahead.

He added a fine finish eight minutes before half-time from Fleck's cross not long after Alex Kitch hit the post.

Another good ball in from Fleck on 41 minutes then saw early substitute Branch rob the keeper to make it 3-0.

Nick Bolton then found Taylor and he provided the centre for Fleck to fire in Ledbury's fourth on 57 minutes.

Woofferton responded by rattling the bar but Taylor sealed his treble on 67 minutes by clinically firing home Branch's ball in.

Holder completed the scoring 12 minutes later with a cross-shot from a free-kick which sailed in by the near post.

It was Ledbury second string's biggest victory since the 7-0 defeat of Orleton Colts Reserves back in September 2016.

Ledbury then drew 2-2 at home to Wellington Colts in midweek.

They travel to Ewyas Harold Reserves on Saturday (2.30pm).

Meanwhile, Ledbury's first team suffered a 5-2 Premier Division defeat to Tenbury United at Palmers Meadow to add to the recent 2-0 loss inflicted by the same side.

Pat Locke's and Dean Rutter’s senior squad led at half-time with a penalty from striker Curt Williams and top scorer Dwayne Tyndale's goal.

Tenth-placed Ledbury host lowly Leominster Town on Saturday (2.30pm).

They will also be hoping to beat Malvern Town Under 21s at Westfields' allpay.park on Monday in the rearranged Herefordshire FA Charity Bowl final (7.30pm).
