A HEROIN addict has been jailed after he repeatedly stamped on his girlfriend's head, leaving his footprint on her face.

Daryl Tustin stamped on girlfriend Elizabeth Dawson's face which left her with a suspected broken eye socket and the imprint of his shoe on her face.

The 32-year-old of Horsebridge Avenue, Badsey, near Evesham had already admitted two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm when he fell to be sentenced at Worcester Crown on Friday.

He further admitted failing to surrender to the court in a fit state after being brought before recorder Allan Mainds the previous week when he was 'plainly drunk'.

Tustin attacked Miss Dawson on May 14, 2016 after an argument, leaving her with a suspected broken eye socket later revealed as soft tissue damage.

Sophie Murray, prosecuting, said: "She was seen by an ambulance crew but refused to go to hospital. It was a sustained unprovoked assault using a shod foot."

Ms Murray also read out a statement from Miss Dawson which said: "He launched an attack on me, punching me in the face. I was covering my eye. I was bleeding. I couldn't see. He kept hitting me.

"I remember being on the floor. I remember him running up and stamping on my face five or six times."

Tustin kicked James Ross in the face in a park in Evesham on August 7, 2015. Mr Ross had been cycling through the park when he came across a group which included Tustin and partner Elizabeth Dawson, sitting down with the group.

Sophie Murray, prosecuting, said: "Without warning he felt a kick to his face which made contact with his right eye."

Daryl Tustin had kicked him and Elizabeth Dawson had jumped on top of him, Ms Murray said.

Mr Ross suffered a swollen black eye and grazes to his neck, elbow and the forefinger of the left hand.

Ms Murray said: "It's the use of a weapon - a shod foot, kicking on the ground in a completely unprovoked attack."

Ms Murray placed both attacks in the most serious sentencing bracket, category one which was not disputed by the defence.

Tustin has a string of previous convictions, including causing suffering to an animal, being drunk and disorderly and assaulting a constable.

Peter Hemming, for Tustin, said he admitted the assault on his partner at the police station, pleading guilty at the first opportunity before the magistrates court.

He told the court Miss Dawson had been made subject to a criminal behaviour order to prevent her going into the road where Tustin's mother lived because of her behaviour.

Mr Hemming said Miss Dawson was in an area where she should not have been when Tustin attacked her.

Tustin's attack on Mr Ross happened when his partner, Elizabeth Dawson, accused him of stealing her mobile phone.

He added: "Daryl Tustin, being the partner of Elizabeth Dawson, took it upon himself to get that phone back."

Mr Hemming described Tustin as 'a heroin addict' and an 'alcoholic', adding: "Vodka is his poison."

"He's on an horrendous list of prescription drugs for various matters from mental health through to deep vein thrombosis.

"His mental health issues started when he found his brother some years ago who had committed suicide."

Judge Robert Juckes QC said Tustin had taken the sensible decision to plead guilty.

He told Tustin: "You were plainly in a highly aggressive mood. The assaults were sustained and repeated.

"That's particularly true of the of the assault on Elizabeth Dawson which ended with you stamping on her face several times.

"The photographs plainly show stamp marks as a consequence of what you did."

Judge Juckes jailed him for three years, minus the 19 days Tustin spent on a qualifying curfew.
