“Dream, Believe, Achieve” is the vision for staff and pupils at Bengeworth CE Primary Academy in Evesham.

This vision was realised recently at the Worcester Competitive Arts Festival where 19 pupils entered poetry recital classes. Pupils won first and second place in every class they entered and were awarded seven silver trophies with a several gold, silver and bronze medals, competing with many seasoned competitors from independent schools from around the county. Pupils Thomas Hill and Morgan Jenkins were subsequently invited to perform again at the Festival Gala Concert before an audience of more than 200 people including Patron Lady Morrison and other dignitaries.

Bengeworth Academy Specialist Poetry Teacher Debra Bertulis said: “Our pupils love this competition, and for many it was their first time performing before an audience. In addition to having fun, each pupil has learned the true meaning of courage, determination and resilience. We are incredibly proud of them all.”

Headteacher David Coaché said: “This is a prestigious performance event for schools and the academic standard is extremely high. To have achieved such a high number of awards is truly outstanding for our pupils.”
