DYMOCK Cricket Club will once again be hosting a music festival at their ground, and the date will be this Sunday, (May 27).

The festival will be named Sounds at the Pound because The Pound is the name of the venue, and local talent will be setting toes tapping.

Act taking to the stage will include The Other Crowd; Jack Cookson; The Ripcords; Solid Gone; The Baddoos; Hoult and Frontrunner."

Spokesperson Lynn Walker said: "The emphasis is more on local bands, aimed at making this a truly community-based event. Most of the bands will have a link to the Three Counties area, but the local focus does not mean a reduction in quality. Far from it

“There is a wealth of talent in the local area, all with a good following, and so it seemed logical to use that as a focus for our event. It has enabled us to keep ticket prices low and appeal to a wide local audience."

She added: "Some of the acts have played at the festival in the past. The Baddoos were well received last year, and Sam Fowke, Hoult’s lead singer actually played the first ever set at the festival as a solo artist in 2012”.

The day is preceded by the traditional Dymock Half – Marathon, which starts at 9.30am, with the music starting at noon.

The Other Crowd will kick things off with some familiar sounds, "and the mellow feel to the afternoon will gradually build to Frontrunner, the headline act due on stage at around 9.30pm".

Lynn said: "The music is good. There is a variety of styles, bands and soloists, male and female vocals, and there will be some old favourites played and some new original music to listen to.

"There will be food and a fully licenced bar available throughout the day. The event is due to finish at 11pm."

She added: "We are very grateful to our main sponsors, Marston’s Brewery and Westons Cider for their support. Without them we would not be able to put this event on. We are also very grateful to many other local contributors who are sponsoring and helping to put on this event for the benefit of the community”
