Budding nurses can get a taste of the profession at an open day this month.

The open day session takes place at Hereford County Hospital on Friday, June 29 from 11am and is open to qualified nurses, student nurses and new starters who may have never considered a career in the nursing profession.

The Wye Valley NHS Trust, which employs around 2,000 nursing staff who work at Hereford County Hospital, in its three community hospitals and out in the community, is looking for newly qualified nurses but is also keen to hear from nurses who have left the profession and are considering a return.

New recruits are being offered a £1,000 ‘golden hello’ recruitment package.

Karen Miller, the Trust’s Head of Resourcing, said: “We appreciate that this can be daunting, but we have a great team which will support any nurses wanting to return to the profession.

"While the basics of nursing remain the same, there are always new techniques, procedures and processes to learn. We have a great support network to bring nurses returning to become proficient and confident.”
