A KEEN member of the Worcestershire Young Archaeologists Club from Ledbury has just won the organisation's top award
Vaughan Cresswell has just been named winner of the Alan Jacobs Award, given to the club member who has shown the most enthusiasm over the past year.
It is named after a Worcestershire archaeologist who had a passion for inspiring young people and was a volunteer for the club in its early days.
Mr Jacobs' family launched the award to support young archaeologists after he died in February 2012.
His wife, Michelle Jacobs, presented the award and said it was "heartening to see so many enthusiastic members and volunteers".
Paul Hudson, the club's volunteer leader, said: "Vaughan has been a committed and keen member of the team over the past year and is always enthusiastic and ready to ask questions."
Vaughan, who is from Ledbury, said he was "surprised, but happy".
The award is a replica Roman hunt cup in tribute to Mr Jacob's favourite time period.
