LEDBURY Swifts Football Club are hailing their recent annual Andy Kibble Football Tournament and Family Fun Day as a great community success.

The event actually took place over two days earlier this month, at Ledbury Rugby Club.

A spokesman said: "The weekend saw over 70 volunteers organise and steward 120 matches with over 2000 people visiting the event.

"There were 91 junior teams entered in the tournament and for the first year running there were special games for the Under 6’s age groups and the Wildcats girls football team."

The spokesman added: "The club was also delighted that this year proved to be the most successful so far for the home club with the U9 Boys, the U10 Boys and the U13 Girls teams taking home the Andy Kibble Memorial Trophy for their age groups."

Andy Kibble was a much loved local ambulance man who had a long association with local football.

The spokesman added: "The event is a vital fundraiser for the Swifts Football Club raising funds to help purchase new equipment over the next season. The Swifts would like to thank the local businesses that support the event especially Brandon Tool Hire and the Ledbury Rugby Club."

The total amount raised is yet to be announced.
