BY special request, the Ledbury based rock band Billy Whizz gave an extra special concert on a stage that has been graced by stars including The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Suede and Amy Winehouse.
The Ledbury combo were asked by Bristol’s Colston Hall management to headline the very last rock gig there, earlier this month, before the famous venue undergoes a two year, £48 million refurbishment.
A spokesman for the band said: "They played on the very stage performed on by legends. Billy Whizz were thrilled and honoured to follow in the footsteps of such iconic musicians."
A promoter described Billy Whizz as "a fitting finale for such a great venue".
The band comprising of Jon Hickey, guitar and vocal, Jon Fox, bass and vocal, Rob Clark, lead guitar and Kev Jarvis, drums will be appearing as part of the Ledbury Fringe Festival on July 7 at The British Legion, with donations in aid of St Michael’s Hospice.
Admission will be free.
The band, which has been a favourite at many a Ledbury Carnival, gets its name from a well-known Beano character, known for his speed, who first appeared in the comic in 1964.
