WYE Valley NHS Trust is holding a volunteer recruitment open day for people with long term conditions.

The event is open to anyone who has experience of living with one or more long term health conditions, or are carers, and would like to help others turn their life around.

It is a great opportunity to call in and find out about what becoming a trained volunteer involves, and to meet other volunteer tutors.

Sue Tobey, expert patient's programme co-ordinator, said: "We provide free six week courses, each session lasting two and half hours per week, for people living with long term health conditions to help them achieve their goals and enhance their health and wellbeing, which includes managing symptoms and pain, healthy eating tips, relaxation techniques and advice on gentle exercise.

"Our courses are tutored by trained volunteers who live with long term health conditions, so they have first-hand experience of learning new ways and techniques to manage their health more effectively.

"It is a drop in session, so if you live with a long term health condition or are a carer and are able to offer some of your valuable time to help other people, please call in to see us."

The open day will take place at the Kindle Centre in Hereford on August 2 between 11am and 3pm.
