A GROUP of campaigners called on shoppers in Ross-on-Wye to urge the government to deliver Brexit without compromise.

The newly launched non party-political campaign group Herefordshire For Brexit held a stall at the Market House in Ross to encourage members of the public to sign postcards urging the government to deliver “the Brexit that Britain voted for”.

MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire Jesse Norman visited the stand and supporters told him that the current Brexit plan was a betrayal of the 59.2 per cent of Herefordians who voted Leave in June 2016.

Campaign founders Christopher Kingsley and Sarah Rogan said: “Those who voted Leave know exactly what they voted for.

"They may not have foreseen every twist and turn of the Brexit process when voting but they know what independence means and Theresa May’s proposals would not give us that.

"People are furious and will not be betrayed. We intend to keep reminding our county MPs that we expect them to deliver on the government’s promise of independence from the EU."

Herefordshire For Brexit has launched a postcard petition that allows pro-Brexit Herefordians to sign a postcard which will be sent to the county's MPs.

Herefordshire For Brexit will be campaigning in town centres and at local events regularly over the next few months

Herefordshire MEP James Carver joined the campaigners. Mr Carver, an Independent, said: “Herefordshire for Brexit is a great way of giving the silent majority a voice, and the campaign looks set to spread to Worcestershire and hopefully other counties as well.

“It is a brilliant way of galvanising people after two years of stalemate over our exit from the EU to remind our politicians, in no uncertain terms, that it’s time to deliver."
