BROMYARD TOWN 2, PELSALL VILLA 1

BROMYARD Town worked really hard to record their first Sport Italia West Midlands Premier Division win of the season on Bank Holiday Monday.

The home team took the lead in the 18th minute when Laurence Helme rounded the last defender and cooly slotted the ball past Pelsall's advancing keeper.

The visitors' pace and movement kept Bromyard's defence busy but man-of-the-match Gareth McCarthy plus Matt Gray were in no mood to surrender the advantage and against the run of play Craig Malins struck to make it 2-0 on the half hour.

After the break, Pelsall came roaring back but dogged defending all over the park by Bromyard broke down the visitors attacks until the 80th minute when they were awarded a penalty kick after a goalmouth scramble to make it 2-1.

Shortly afterwards a frustrated Pelsall were reduced to 10 men following violent conduct by one of their players giving Bromyard the opportunity to hang on to a slender lead to give them all three points.
