A GROUP of intrepid employees from a Ross business will take to the tallest hills in the country in aid of Scope.

Staff members from REHAU in Ross-on-Wye will join with colleagues from around the UK on Friday, September 7 to climb the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales.

The team will walk 23 miles over the weekend to climb to the top of Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon.

The challenge will take two days and the trekkers will sleep on the journey between peaks.

Competitor Kevin Brain, who has worked at the company for 18 years, said: “I’ve always wanted to do the Three Peaks Challenge, it will be such an achievement to complete it. And having lost three stone earlier this year I’ve had a real boost and additional motivation to train towards this goal.”

REHAU Communications Coordinator Faye Tompkins has previously skydived in 2015 to raise funds for Prostate Cancer and she is eager to take part in a new challenge.

She said: “I’m nervous about the challenge - it’s going to be a constant uphill struggle, but I’m looking forward to taking it on with the team and raising money for Scope.”

Fellow participant and colleague Rebecca Hazelwood added: "The main reason I wanted to take part in the challenge was to push and challenge myself. My family and friends think I’m crazy, but it is going to benefit Scope as well as be great for me personally.”

REHAU is aiming to raise £12,000 for Scope over the year and has already raised over a third of this target, with more pledged for those that complete the challenge.

Scope works to ensure disable people in the UK have equal opportunities.
