A MILKSHAKE, two plants and a garden incinerator were some of the items stolen by a Leominster man, a court has heard.

Steven Biddle, of Hopyard Close, Leominster, appeared at Hereford Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 5 and faced four counts of theft, two of fraud by false representation and two charges of failure to appear at court at the appointed time.

The court heard how the 33-year-old had stolen items with the intention of selling them to feed his drug habit of heroin and crack cocaine.

The prosecution explained how on June 23, Biddle visited Morrisons in Leominster and took around £30 worth of frozen meat. He walked out without paying for it and was spotted by an off duty security guard.

On July 2 Biddle broke into a parked car on Bridge Street in Leominster and stole the driver’s wallet which contained a bank card and a mobile phone.

He then used the bank card to buy a Yahoo milkshake worth £1.10 and a bottle of vodka.

The court also heard how he entered a back garden in Leominster and walked off with an incinerator and two plants on June 5 and also stole £31.50 from a gaming machine at Leominster's Clifton Bingo Hall on June 29.

A representative from the Probation Service explained how Biddle had previously kicked his drug habit and had not committed a crime since 2014, but he had relapsed in Christmas 2017 which caused him to return to crime.

His defence stated that Biddle wanted to admit his crimes and 'clear the slate'.

Biddle received a 12 month community order and a six month drug rehabilitation programme.

He is also required to pay costs and compensation totalling £463.
