BROMYARD 33PTS, TRINITY GUILD 15PTS BROMYARD'S good start to the season continued with an emphatic EDF Energy Junior Vase win last Saturday against Warwickshire-based Trinity Guild.
The home side, without several first team regulars were indebted to veterans Malcolm Squire, Paul Harrison and Ian McCulloch, who stepped in and galvanised a forward dominated encounter.
Bromyard had the best of the early exchanges and Roger Dixon slotted four penalties in the first half to give a 12-3 lead at the break.
The second-half saw Bromyard in an expansive mode and a break by outside centre Jason Evans saw flanker Steve Rowberry cross the line for the opening try.
Man-of-the-match, full-back Roger Dixon, added to his personal tally with a try and a match total of 24 points. The home side saw off a late rally by Trinity when skipper Nick Legge broke through the defence and launch Rowberry for his second try.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Bromyard travel to Birmingham Civil Service in the league.
Bromyard are at home in the third round of the EDF Energy Junior Vase and play Market Harborough on Saturday, October 13.
