BROMYARD 13pts, CLAVERDON 16pts
LEAGUE form gave Bromyard hope of a win last Saturday but they had to hand the points to Claverdon after a keenly contested fixture.
After an early exchange of penalties the two sides were level at 6-6 but a try either side of half-time saw the visitors pull ahead 6-16.
Bromyard's forwards kept up a high work rate and their efforts paid off when prop forward Steve Eversham forced his way over the line for a well deserved try to keep the home side in the hunt.
Ben Collins added the conversion to his two earlier penalties to make the last quarter of an hour a very tense affair. A late try saving tackle from full-back Richard Smith kept Bromyard in the game but despite persistent pressure Claverdon's defences could not be breached.
Bromyard entertain Market Harborough tomorrow (Saturday), in the third round of the EDF Energy Junior Vase.
