ELLESMERE RANGERS 1 BROMYARD TOWN 2
AGAINST all the odds, Bromyard Town ground out a superb 2-1 win against Ellesmere to grab three valuable Sport Italia West Midland premier Division points.
Bromyard got off to a great start and in the 7th minute Lawrence Helme smashed the ball into the roof of the net from close range. Five minutes later Joe Wood made it 2-0 to the visitors heading home from the near post with an opportunist's goal.
Bromyard continued to create chances for the rest of the first half but Ellesmere looked dangerous on the break.
After the interval it seemed as though Bromyard were out of luck when in the 65th minute the referee sent off goalkeeper Aaron O'Malley for a reckless challenge outside the box. Outfield player Chris Allen replaced him in goal and kept the home team at bay with some fine saves but on 80 minutes Ellesmere were awarded a penalty which they converted.
Bromyard however, showed tremendous team spirit to hold on for a vital league win.
