STUDENTS and staff at Eastnor Parochial Primary School are celebrating a glowing Ofsted inspection.

The school, which faced an uncertain future in the light of a Herefordshire Council school review just months ago, has been rated as Good' overall, with several areas of its provision Outstanding'.

Inspector Chris Kessell, who visited the 78-pupil school on April 22, praised the school's quality of teaching and learning, its family feel', and its polite, mature, confident and cooperative' students.

The inspection report, published this week, reserves special praise for the contribution of headteacher Susan Lowry, who was only appointed to the role in January following the death of former head Julia Morris in October after a battle with cancer.

"It (the school) has a number of outstanding features, particularly pupils' personal development and the leadership and management of the headteacher," it states. "The school has successfully come through a period of turbulence and uncertainty. It has grown and developed on the solid foundation that was already in place."

Children enjoy a wide range of additional activities beyond the core curriculum, and leave the school with standards well above average.

The only areas for improvement are providing children with a greater challenge and range of learning opportunities in subjects such as history and geography, and increasing their understanding of other religions and beliefs.

Miss Lowry feels the report speaks for itself.

"We have a super school that is going from strength to strength," she said. "I've said it many times, it is the super staff, great governors and supportive parents that help make this school a very special place."
