WELSH Water has pulled out all the stops to make sure that no more days have been lost at the Playstation Nursery, because of essential mains repairs in the Homend.
At the start of April, Ann Brennan of Playstation was informed by the water company that the nursery would be without water one day each week for at least the next five weeks.
Miss Brennan was only given 48 hours notice before the first cut-off, which meant that the parents of 35 children had to make alternative eleventh hour arrangements for child care or take a day off work.
The company also could not advise Miss Brennan in advance as to which day each week the water would be turned off.
But following talks with Welsh Water, the company has put on an emergency supply to the nursery, for those days when mains repairs must take place.
Miss Brennan said: "As a result only one day out of a possible five has been lost, bless them. They have really pulled the stops out."
Because of the emergency connection, toilets could continue to be flushed during the works.
At first the company only offered portable toilets as a solution.
Welsh Water also agreed to only turn off the supply between 6.30am and 8am.
Because the taps would sometimes run murky water for a while afterwards, the Water Company supplied the nursery with bottled water.
With the works in the Homend coming to the a close, Welsh Water's contractors are set to move onto the Bromyard Road.
